  1. Whenever a patient comes into a hospital to see the doctor, the doctor registers the patient to see what disease the patient has, and that will be data the doctor is collecting. The data then becomes information for the doctor when the doctor classes each person under the the categories of diseases where they belong. An example would be like if Danny has cancer then the doctor places him under the category Cancer and when Samantha comes in and has diabetes, then the doctor places him under the category Diabetes. This is where data becomes information for the doctor. When these information is data for another person is when these information from these doctors from one hospital is sent to the Ministry of Health. When the Ministry of Health collects the information from one hospital, it is just data for them. It is when they collect all the data from all the hospital country-wide then it becomes information for them because they will use all the data from all the hospitals and class them into a big category and make a percentage out of it for the country. Example is like how much percent of Belize has Aids, how much percent of Belize has Cancer, how much percent of Belize has Diabetes and etc... This is when data collected by the Ministry of Health becomes information for them.

  2. A retailer bases his or her purchases on items based on supply and demand. Based on what his customers buy on a daily basis he records the items that are purchased frequently in order to formulate his or her's supply and demand. This information then becomes useful to them so that they could expand on their sales and profits. Furthermore, this information then becomes useful to wholesalers as they also expand their sales and profits based on supply and demand retailers provide for them.

  3. Whenever a student sits the CXC, In the beginning it is data because the ministry of education receives the results after the papers had been checked, then it turns information when the school receives the results of their students, then they see the grade point of each student , then it turns data again when the results of everyone in the Caribbean is sent to Jamaica for them to see the amount of passes and failures they had in each subject area.

  4. when doing a survey at a school phycologist gathers data on the different ways students learn such as reading, watching videos, writing notes, researching, listenting to lectures, studying with groups, individually etc. Then hands it in to the school dean or principal so as to give a report to teachers so they can update or change their teaching methods. This data becomes information for the teacher to test if there is better performance from students. Depending on the performance the teachers can now use this information to inform others for eg. parents or the ministry of education about which learning methods have the highest and lowest rates or scores, which once more becomes data for another person.

  5. A customer makes a list of items to purchase. That list of item is data to the cashier to find the prices of each item and then the total bill. When the total bill is found the data then becomes information for the cashier. This information is used as data for the accountant of the store however. The accountant finds a total for all totals throughout the month then finds out whether there is profit or loss. When the data has been processed and the accountant can tell how much profit has been made or how much money has been lost then the data becomes information.

  6. When an Car manufacturer makes a car they combine all the data of the car, like the year made, the engine, the original paint job...etc. and create the VIN # that contains everything that is needed for the vehicle. The person who buys the car does not know what the Vehicle Identification Number(VIN) means. all they know that the letters and numbers are important.to them, it`s just data.

  7. Data collected by hospitals about the different diseases that each patient has can become structured information for an Epidemiologist. The Epidemiologist takes that information and studies it to determine if it is an endemic, epidemic or pandemic then passes it on to the Ministry of Health. The information becomes data for the Ministry of Health to evaluate.
